Opting not to ride in the short bus that was packed with media in front of the Olympic Torch runners, I decided to run along with them. As the group jogged along, the lead torchbearer noticed an elderly gentleman in a wheel chair along the route. I heard him say "Can he hold it?" to one of the organizers as she hesitated a bit and then agreed. Of course while this transaction of words were going on I was screaming in my head "YES! YES! DO IT!" I was excited have a very good opportunity (even if it was less then a blink of an eye) where I was the only one of my peers in the media to nab this shot before the runner started again. You know sometimes it pays to take the harder route, even if the VANOC organizers freak out at me for "ruining" everyone's photo. Like I said before, I didn't ride the short bus.
Amazing Robin! Thank you for going the extra mile (or maybe you did 2- ha!).
These are the moments people will remember longer than any competition or fancy venue.
Ha ha ha ha! This is awesome! Kudos for not being on the short bus.
Every single time I look at this website I end up finding a picture that absolutely melts my heart. You’re an amazing photographer, sir.
